Traditional
Here at comparethecoffin.com, we have a large selection of coffins to choose from in our catalogue.
Most coffins used in Britain are our traditional British “Flat Lid” sarcophagus shape, but in the last few years, the choices offered have grown significantly.
Different materials, such as Cardboard and Natural materials like Bamboo, Wicker, Willow, and matted Banana leaf becoming increasingly more and more popular.
At ComparetheCoffin we also can also make one-off individual designs that suit peoples requirements completely. Usually, something that represents the person’s interests or personality.
Our favorite to date was one for a wonderful lady in Coventry called Mary. Initial Mary orders a Traditional coffin to start with but contacted us to go through the details.
The coffin was for her father, Dr. Hayward, and local and popular GP. I pointed that we have a lot of other designs that can make a funeral more memorable, I then added we can design a coffin specifically for her.
I asked what her father liked and it turns out that he was very fond of a Bakewell Tarts and a Particular Brand of Cake as well. Mary said she has seen a box a supermarket and could make a coffin that looked like that?
We made 2 main changes – Instead of “Mr. Kipling” it says “Dr. Hayward” with the same caption underneath “Exceedingly Good!”
And then the Best Before Date was the 15th July 2012. I’m sure you can work out what that was.
The design and manufacturing only took 2-3 days and was delivered to the Funeral Director, AJ Lloyd in Coventry, in good time for the event.
Before using images that belong to a company or other organization you need to ask permission for it to be used. In this case, Premier Foods were delighted to give their approval, and also they were happy to provide cakes to the family to serve at the funeral.
As the casket is going used for cremation we also made another lid, which then it could be displayed during the tea offered after the ceremony. I’ll think they’ll keep the extra lid as a family heirloom – Maybe?
We’ve heard from them and apparently, the funeral went really well and will definitely be remembered for a long time to come.
